What Pocket Jesus collects, what it doesn't, and how we treat your conversations.

Last updated: 2026-05-27.

Pocket Jesus is built around a simple idea: the things you bring to a spiritual companion are yours, not ours. This policy explains, in plain language, what that means in practice.

The short version

  • No sign-up, no profile. Apple bills you for the app, so we know whether you’ve paid — but otherwise you’re anonymous to us. No name, no email, no account.
  • Conversations aren’t saved — period. When you close a conversation, it’s gone. If you tap the heart on a response to save it as a favorite, the actual question and answer text is written to your device’s storage. We never receive a copy, and there’s no server-side record to point at.
  • Questions are sent to our AI service, then discarded. We don’t keep a copy of what you ask or what you’re told.
  • We don’t use analytics or trackers on this website.
  • Billing is handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

What the app stores

Conversations themselves are ephemeral: they live only while the conversation is open, and once you close it or start a new one, everything you didn’t explicitly save is gone. When you tap the heart on a response, the app writes the full text of that question and answer (plus any notes you add) to standard on-device app storage. That stored text is the message itself — not a pointer or reference to something on our servers, because there is no server-side copy to point at.

That on-device storage isn’t replicated to our servers, isn’t backed up by us, and isn’t visible to us. If you uninstall the app, clear its data, or reset your device, your saved responses are gone — we have no copy to restore.

What we send to our backend

To generate a response, the app sends your question (and a short window of recent conversation, so the response stays in context) to our AI inference service. Once the response is generated and sent back to your device, the question and response are discarded from our servers. We don’t log them, we don’t analyze them, and we don’t use them to train or improve our model without your separate, opt-in consent.

Our AI model itself was trained on tens of thousands of questions and answers about Catholic doctrine, deeply rooted in Vatican teachings — not on your conversations.

What this website stores

This website (pocketjesus.org) does not use analytics, advertising trackers, fingerprinting, or third-party cookies. The only data the site itself transmits is whatever your browser sends in the normal course of loading a webpage (IP address, user agent), which is briefly held in our CDN logs for security and reliability and then discarded.

The site loads the Fraunces typeface from Google Fonts. Google may receive basic request metadata as part of serving that font. If that bothers you, your browser’s tracking-protection features will block it without breaking the site.

Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are sold and processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the anonymous subscription status that’s necessary to unlock paid features. We never see your name, email, card number, or billing address.

To manage or cancel a subscription, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, or App Store → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your Mac.

Children

Pocket Jesus is intended for users 13 and older. As described above, we don’t collect or store personal information from anyone — children included — so there’s nothing on our end for us to look up or delete. If a parent or guardian is concerned about a child’s use of the app, uninstalling it from the child’s device will clear any favorites saved locally. Questions are welcome at support@pocketjesus.org.

Your rights

Because we don’t store personal information about you, there’s nothing for us to look up, export, or delete on request. The fastest way to “delete your data” is to uninstall the app, which removes any responses you’d saved as favorites on your device.

If you have a specific concern, email us at support@pocketjesus.org.

Changes

If we materially change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and bump the date at the top. Significant changes will also be flagged in the app.
